Special Episode!! This week on the podcast, Hunter and Austin are joined by their first guest, and it is someone who embodies the Go Get It mindset. Tom Morris is the Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance at Indiana University. Morris has worked with 12 Olympians, and won dozens of NCAA and Big Ten Titles with Indiana Men’s Soccer and the swimming and diving team, and in 2017, became one of 232 people honored nationally with the title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Tom talks a lot about resilience, and it’s a muscle that he exercises every day. After suffering a spinal cord injury in May of 2012, Tom went from being on top of the world both mentally and physically to being what he refers to as “Zeroed Out”. He went from racing some of the toughest races on earth to not being able to push a wheel chair more than 5 ft. As he says on his website: “This life changing event made me realize how fortunate we are to wake up each and every day. To have the ability to live life without barriers. To have the option to achieve any goal that we want. I work to encourage everyone to take advantage of every second. Don’t set goals that will start in a week. Start right now!”
Your #GoGetItChallenge of the week: the next time you face adversity and you want to react very quick, take a pause first. Step back from the situation and think about how you want to react.
